During a tatoo removal procedure, laser light is applied to the tatooed area of the skin. The light is selectivley absorbed by the tatoo ink partcles, leavingthe surrounding skin tissue and chromophores unharmed. The tatoo ink particles absorb the laser energy, heat up, and shaltter into smaller ink particles. In days and weeks following a laser treatment, the body immune system flushes away the shattered ink particles, causing the tatoo to fade. Over series of treatment, more and more of the ink shatters, leaving the skin free of ink.
You have to be informed at the ouset that complete clearance is not guaranteed and that the number of treatment and result depend on factors that vary from person to person. 10 to 15 sessions, spaced 5 - 8 weeks apart, may be required to achieve a desirable or even acceptable result and the entire process could take a year or longer.
